This clock is based on the 'Ever Ready Electrically
propelled clocks' which were manufactured at the beginning of the last
century. A unique feature is the motion of the pendulum which swings backwards
and forwards instead of from side to side. The principle of operation is that
of Scotts 'notched tooth' which is similar to the 'Hipp' system well known to
amateur clockmakers. A full description of the construction is given
including winding the magnet coils. Although I have called it 'battery
operated: it can of course be run from the mains supply using a
transformer and rectifier. As usual I have taken the opportunity to update
the material suppliers and correct errors in the text. The chapter ring is
available for those who do not wish to engrave their own.
The lathe featured in the construction is the Myford ML 7 lathe.
